Celtics Take 3-2 Lead With 107-89 Victory

Boston's Defense Stifles Dallas Offense

BOSTON, MA - The Boston Celtics took a commanding 3-2 lead in their NBA Western Conference Finals series against the Dallas Mavericks on Friday night with a convincing 107-89 victory at TD Garden. The Celtics were led by Jayson Tatum's 29 points, followed by Jaylen Brown's 22 points and Marcus Smart's 18 points.

The Celtics' defense was dominant throughout the night, holding the Mavericks to just 38.5% shooting from the field, including 18.2% from three-point range. Dallas was also outrebounded by Boston 50-33, and the Celtics forced 15 turnovers.

The Celtics jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, leading by as many as 25 points in the second half. The Mavericks made a late run in the fourth quarter, but the Celtics held on for the victory.

The Celtics will now have a chance to close out the series in Game Six on Sunday night in Dallas. The Mavericks will need to find a way to slow down the Celtics' offense and generate more offense of their own if they want to stay alive in the series.
